past time

Last week after having lunch at Antonio’s in Tagaytay, I decided to visit my sister and her kids in Laguna.  It was just a 45-minute drive from Tagaytay to Sta. Rosa and traffic was light.  My sister was still sleeping when we arrived so my niece and I had enough time to plan a night swimming.  We knew where we would go.  We knew what we’d bring—chips, drinks, towels, swimsuits, dinner.  In fact, we brought everything except the dog, oven and bridesmaid dresses.   Of course, as soon as my sister woke up we left immediately.  All my sister had to do was brush her hair, her teeth and wash her face.  Everything was taken care of by me and my niece.   When we arrived at Ponderosa, we had the pool all to ourselves.   Imagine that.  The last time we went night swimming was summer last year.  There were a lot of people and we just had one part of the pool.  It was also fun but not as fun as this time.  We talked and laughed without a care in the world.  No one would hear us, anyway.

It rained a bit that night signaling an end to a great bonding time with family.  I hope we could do this more often.

The fact that the days are longer and I don’t need to be in my best outfit during summer, I absolutely love the fact that Easter treats are readily available wherever.  We can just go to a restaurant and expect easter treats being offered to any family who’s too busy to make easter eggs or bunnies.  We’re one of those families, if you don’t already know.

But I would love to, even just once, make easter eggs or any easter treats from scratch just like the ones below.

So we just got back from our one-day vacation out of town.  We had so much fun.  We ate.  We swam a bit.  We talked.  And we ate some more.  The place didn’t have a TV which is a good thing.  I got started with my reading again.  No TV also makes you do some crazy things.  Like the photo above.  Doesn’t it remind you of the movie Royal Tenenbaums?

By the way, I got the date wrong again.  I will post more photos soon.

In an otherwise nondescript safe in a carefully guarded and secured room deep in the XXX Bank, pieces of jewelry lie untouched by human hands.

The jewelry pieces which I used to sell through a stand-alone shop in Binondo.  The shop was put up during chaotic times when all businesses were sort of down and struggling.  People had no money.  And the little money they had would be wisely spent on food, shelter and education.  There was no room for luxury.  I had to close shop or lose the business to rentals, utilities and manpower.  What I opted to do was have my goods consigned in a hotel shop.  Business was doing okay but I had problems managing even that one little outlet.  I got pregnant, gave birth to a bouncing baby girl, contracted Bell’s Palsy, discovered MG had autism, and decided to be a full-time mom.  Okay, I said there should be no talk about kids here but this one part is crucial.

Now that MG seems to be doing fine and will soon enter Grade School this coming school year and my son has only one year to go before he graduates from College, I find myself with more time and enthusiasm to do whatever it is I feel like doing.

So I’m thinking about reviving my selling career.  I’ve actually started selling bags last year and only had to stop because of the holidays.  I’ve also added some of my personal clothes to the collection and just renewed my account with Etsy for the jewelry.  So many things happening all at once, even reviving my sleeping blogging career.  But it’s good and I know I can manage.

I’m also thinking of adding another blog which is all about the business and I already have a name for it.  It’s so exciting.  This is definitely my year.  Here’s a sneak peek of my Etsy shop.  It’s not finished yet.  I still have to take photos of the other items and I’ll also be adding items other than jewelry para masaya!

Who doesn’t know this purple creature? Barney is part of our family. Ever since MG took a fancy on him, everyone in the family is hooked. Barney goes anywhere we go. To the mall, to school, to Baguio and he even sleeps with us.

We are spending the New Year in Mimosa, Clarkfield, Pampanga and he’s part of the travel checklist:

Look at these photos. You can see MG really adores this guy.

I’m taking a break from reading. Against my will, of course. I’ve finished three books in a span of one week. After finishing The Time Traveler’s Wife, I didn’t waste any minute and immediately started reading Twilight and I’m in love with Edward Cullen. If these were real people, I’m what everybody would call a ‘playgirl’. First, Henry and now Edward. Tsk tsk tsk.

I finished reading Twilight in less than two days and New Moon just overnight. I would have loved to finish the twilight saga but I can’t find a copy of Eclipse anywhere. Copies are unavailable and would only be available in two weeks. They’re out of stock. I went to every bookstore near our place and it’s the same thing. What I intend to do is to borrow from my niece (who lives in Laguna) because I couldn’t sit around for two weeks waiting. I can’t be left hanging. It’s just too frustrating.

Anyway, tomorrow is the premiere of the movie’s new trailer. I won’t miss it. That’s for sure.
