Shopping in HK is truly enjoyable. When it’s sale season, you can be sure that all items are marked down. We just got back from Hong Kong and it’s winter there now. So the clothes that were on sale were mostly winter clothes like jackets, sweaters, and other wintry items. But I was able to purchase non-winter clothes from H&M, Bossini and Wanko. I bought 4 pairs of shoes, tops, clothes for MG and my son, and “pasalubong” for my dad and brother. You can find everything you need in Hong Kong including hard to find herbs and spices, dried goods, leather, luxury goods and even cao cigars. I would definitely come back and would make sure that next time would be in July when the whole of HK is on sale.
It’s Friday and we’re off to Hong Kong in awhile. Just dropping by to bid you adieu and see you all on Monday. In the mean time, enjoy the weekend. Have a fab time just as I’m sure we’ll have a terrific vacation in HK. Wish you can come….
Nothing like summer tunes to make you whole again. Do you agree? And with summer tunes are images of road trips, family reunions, picnics and the beach. It’s impossible not to associate summer with music. So what’s your summer song? Mine is the Ocean by Led Zeppelin with the fantastic guitar playing of no other than Jimmy Page. It makes me wonder what type of guitar he used to play with. Was it peavey cirrus because he’d never use low quality guitars? Anyway, summer’s just around the corner and I can’t imagine anything better than Ocean blasting in my car with my hair loose, the warm air blowing in my face, and the promise of a spectacular view of sun, sand and the blue sky.
I can’t wait for summer.
My niece asked me the other week if I’ve always worn flats. She asked this as she always sees me wearing my Havaianas, espadrilles and yes, my flats. So my answer was, “Yes, I do.” It’s not that I don’t like wearing heels. In fact when I was still working, you won’t regularly see me in flats. Although I would have wanted to remain in flats forever and suffer pain in the lower extremities and feet but there were occasions that call for heels. The only other advantage of wearing heels, aside from making you look slimmer and taller, is you won’t need metal step stools to reach something. But other than those two reason, I still prefer my flats.
By the way, my little girl loves wearing flats too.
Hello July! Can you imagine it’s July already? We’re already half way through 2011. Time really flies period. Whether you’re having fun or not. I feel like I just celebrated my birthday last February, just moved in to our new home, and just recently ushered in 2011. And now we’re just 5 months shy to another year. Can you believe that?
So while I suddenly felt the rush of everything happening so fast, I also felt the need to slow down and check on things past. And I must say that I’m pretty pleased. I’ve managed to put up 5 blogs in less than half a year (4 of which are earning blogs), established and fixed up our new abode, flew to Singapore with just me and my little girl, and managed to put my son through 5 years of College (this is his last year). Incredible, yes?! Not bad…It feels good to look back and realize that I kinda stuck to my original goals. It’s also a good thing that I’ve managed to capture all those memories and important milestones in pictures and videos. It really does pay to lug those digital cameras around. Both momentous or simple events are worth capturing as it would be nice to look back and relive the past even in just photos.
My son graduating in college this school year.
My little girl during our trip to Singapore.
She had so much fun at Universal Studios Singapore.
My bedroom window in our new home.
So what’s in store for the remaining months? Tons and I can’t wait.
Our family chose to stay in Metro Manila for the duration of the Holy Week. Actually, I chose to stay home because I hate bumping into someone I know when I’m on vacation. I knew that a lot of families were going out of town and I knew it’d be crowded. And I hate crowds. Our vacation time is really precious to me. It’s really devoted to the family. Imagine meeting someone you know in Boracay or Tagaytay, the vacation might just end up like one of those drinking sprees my friends and I regularly hold. Coz that’s how we are, my friends and I.
But after a day or two at home with nothing to do but watch TV and eat, we decided to go on an out-of-town trip. Just for the day. We were considering Liliw and Nagcarlan in Laguna and Angono in Rizal but we ended up going to Subic and Bataan to visit Mt. Samat and the ancestral homes in Las Casas Filipinas where Zorro (Philippine version) was shot.
It was a long drive but I was in good company. With just my little girl, my son and a playlist I put together, what more could one ask for?
It was a great bonding time for us. We were complete. My son rarely gets to come with us because of his internship and school. By the way, be prepared to shell out P1,500 per person for a day tour at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. It comes with buffet lunch and snack. Day Tour without meals is cheaper and costs less than P1000.
Since it was summer, we were quite excited to go to the beach. It was extra pressure for my niece whose classmates and friends have all changed their Facebook profile pics and posted their best summer photo. She was the only one left with no summer pic. And just because her mom can’t be relied on to take care of her children’s affairs, I decided to take them out to the beach even if it meant extra expense for me.
So last Tuesday with smiles from ear to ear, we drove all the way to La Luz Resort in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas. It was almost a 3-hour drive minus the stop-overs we had to make to pee and stuff. The sun was at its hottest but what the heck, it was summer and we were on our way to some fun in the sand.
We arrived just in time for lunch. There were so many people leaving but a lot were also coming in. By the way, you must avail of the full-board meals that the resort offers because bringing of food is not allowed. More than the beach, I was actually more excited about the food. For 1100 pesos, guests are entitled to buffet breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner with drinks included. It’s cheap.
We had lunch first before we checked in to our room, rested for a bit and then went to one of the cabanas which were lined up for guests to use. My niece took advantage of the sun and sunbathed until her skin was red. But she was all smiles because she got what she wanted. A summer photo with tanned skin. And my nephew, MG and I got what we came there for…TO RELAX & EAT!
So we just got back from our one-day vacation out of town. We had so much fun. We ate. We swam a bit. We talked. And we ate some more. The place didn’t have a TV which is a good thing. I got started with my reading again. No TV also makes you do some crazy things. Like the photo above. Doesn’t it remind you of the movie Royal Tenenbaums?
By the way, I got the date wrong again. I will post more photos soon.
Today was gloriously hot. Imagine sweating doing nothing. It was like the house was one big sauna and there was not one area in the house that was cool enough to just sit down and relax. So we opted to drive around with the aircon in full blast. And to make the day productive enough, I decided to do some errands I’ve been putting off for days now.
So it took me a good 3 hours to finish everything. It felt good to know that I’ve accomplished many tasks today. I even went to the bank and actually waited for my queue. It’s a miracle I even set foot in the bank. I hate going to the bank. I don’t even wanna know who invented the banking system because I surely hate him. Lining up in the most dangerous place on earth {IMHO) is not in my favorite things to do. I have this fear that the bank would get robbed and I’m in the middle of it. Don’t you just hate when that happens? So I avoid going to the bank and I make excuses not to go there if the need arises.
Anyway, we’re off to La Luz Resort in Laiya, Batangas tomorrow before the onslaught of vacationers. Just one day to relax with the sun above and the sand below us. I know it’s gonna be a perfect day. I just know it. After this super duper hot and tiring day, I deserve a break.
